Book Reviews :: Two New Inspire Bibles (Inspire Bible for Girls NLT and Inspire Catholic Bible NLT)

The Inspire Bible (New Living Translation) is a line of unique Bibles that are fantastic for those who love to be creative in their worship and study times. There are a lot of journaling Bible options out there, but one of the things that makes the Inspire Bible so unique is that it not only offers room for journaling and Bible art, but it is also like a built in coloring book. With over 400 illustrations throughout the different versions of the Inspire Bible, there is a lot to color in, but there is still plenty of room to do art & journaling of your own.

And now there are two new versions of the Inspire Bible - the Inspire Bible for Girls and the Inspire Catholic Bible:

First up - the Inspire Catholic Bible:
The leather-like cover of the Inspire Catholic Bible comes in rose gold with a rose gold foiled imprinted accents and a matching elastic strap for closure. The NLT text comes in 8.65 font size and is all black, printed in a single column. The pages have printed edges and a ribbon bookmark is included. The cover measures approximately 6 3/8" x 8 1/8" x 2" and the pages measure approximately 6" x 7 3/4" with a 2" margin (lightly lined where artwork is not included).
The Inspire Catholic Bible is much like the original Inspire Bible (including many of the same illustrations), but with the full biblical canon recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. For those, like me, who are unfamiliar with what this means, the following texts are included:
  • Tobit and Judith - placed after Nehemiah
  • 1 and 2 Maccabees - placed after Esther
  • Wisdom and Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) - placed after Song of Songs
  • Baruch - placed after Lamentations
The above texts contain 48 new illustrations, making over 450 illustrations throughout.

And then there is the Inspire Bible for Girls, which has several new extras not available in other versions of the Inspire Bible:
The hard paperback cover on the Inspire Bible for Girls has some embossed dimension with foiled imprinted accents. This is not your typical paperback cover (like you would find on a novel) - these covers are sturdy, and there is a slip box for additional protection. The NLT text comes in 8.65 font size and is black with teal accents, chapter numbers, and headings. The text is printed in a single column. The cover measures approximately 6 1/8" x 7 7/8" x 1 1/2" and the pages are edge-to-edge with a 1 7/8" margin (lightly lined where artwork is not included).
There are over 500 line art illustrations in the Inspire Bible for Girls - with teal accents included on the book key Scripture verse illustrations. Many of the illustrations are from the original Inspire Bible, but there are several (something in the range of 75 or so) new designs.
Where the Inspire Bible for Girls differs most from other versions of the Inspire Bible is in the additional devotionals, fun facts, and journaling prompts. There are over 300 (I think I counted 318) devotionals - meaning you can read one devotional six days out of the week and it will take you a year to get through them all.
For each book (with 2 & 3 John being included with 1 John), there are key verses and fun facts shared. Throughout the Inspire Bible for Girls there are also over 160 journaling prompts to get you thinking (& writing).

No matter what you are looking for in a journaling Bible, the Inspire Bible line is sure to have something for you.

Happy reading! (And coloring!)

Get Cracking On Christmas {Blog Hop}

Welcome!
Jenn Shurkus has brought
some great designers (and friends)
together for a fabulous Christmas in July blog hop!
(Bonus: there might be a few giveaways!)

For those of you who may not know me or my company, my name is Tifany and I own Ink Blot Shop. I design clear stamps (made in the USA) for card making, Bible art journaling, bullet journaling, and more.
If you aren't already following Ink Blot Shop, please be sure to follow along on the @InkBlotShop Instagram account and the Ink Blot Shop Facebook page.

The Projects:
For both cards, I used the Peas on Earth stamp set (without the peas). I am not a fan of red, so my Christmas cards generally tend toward non-traditional colors.
I started by stamping a couple of the globe images in a light ink, and used some markers to do a bit of no-line watercoloring. (One card is done with Zig markers and one is done with Tombow markers.)
I used the same basic layout (the sentiment over the globe) for both cards, but decided to add a little extra pizzazz to one by turning it into a shaker card. I heat embossed the sentiment on both cards to help it pop.
If you want to see another card design using the same Peas on Earth stamp set (this time with the peas), you can check it out here. And here are two more cards created by Jenn Shurkus for you to check out.

Although it was definitely a creative challenge for me to create Christmas cards in the middle of the summer, it was really fun to stretch myself and I hope you will give it a shot, too. If you do, please be sure to use #GetCrackingOnChristmas on your social media posts.

Ink Blot Shop & The Daily Marker {Blog Hop}

Welcome!
The Daily Marker is bringing
all sorts of great companies
(including Ink Blot Shop
together for a wonderful blog hop today!
(Bonus: there are giveaways!)

For those of you who may not know me or my company, my name is Tifany and I own Ink Blot Shop. I design clear stamps (made in the USA) for card making, Bible art journaling, bullet journaling, and more.

The Project:
The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge is all about getting a little bit of coloring in every day (even if it's only 5 minutes). And if you haven't been able to color each day? Don't let that stop you!
You are not alone.
I haven't colored every day either...but I am doing my best to get it in when I can. I am so glad Kathy started this challenge - it has been good for me to realize that even a little bit of creativity is worth it. And, please - don't feel like you always need to create a whole card or project to have accomplished something.

I've tried to participate in several of Kathy's coloring challenges now (I say tried, because I am in no way getting a perfect attendance award), and I wanted to have a personal goal to help motivate me this round. I had two ideas: building up a little stash of decorated envelopes, and getting some quick note cards (flat, a little bigger than business card size) together so I have something handy for when I would like to write a note to a customer. In order to accomplish my goal, I spent a chunk of time one day just stamping out some pieces so I had a stash ready to color.

Today I wanted to share what I did with some of the stamped envelopes. (The stamps are from my Envelope Mail Art stamp set.) Most of my coloring on these is done using some Tombow markers and a little bit of water on a paintbrush. Since I had the envelopes pre-stamped and the coloring supplies were out, it was easy to watercolor several envelopes at once.
And while I was waiting for the watercolored envelopes to dry, I colored a few more envelopes (particularly the kraft envelopes) with colored pencils.
I don't often have time to create a card and/or envelope right when I need it, so having a little stash ready to pull from is really going to help me out.

I encourage you to play along in this month's coloring challenge...and don't forget to use #thedailymarker30day when sharing on your social media accounts.
